A couple of weeks ago I returned from our annual NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) conference. This conference was a tad bittersweet for me as I was finishing a 7-year term on the Board of Directors; most recently as president. One of my favorite parts at conference is the Expo where we get to see all of the new organizing products and services. The past couple of years I’ve not had a lot of time to spend in the Expo with the vendors as I had in the past and I definitely missed it. This year, I once again got to spend some quality time with a number of vendors and talk about their products and services.
Note: These vendors have no idea I am writing about their products and services and I am not being compensated to share this information with you – I just wanted to share with you some of the cool new things I saw.
Storage Container Label Pad by 3M:Moving soon? Or maybe you are just packing up some winter items for storage. Take a look at these new labels for your containers. Finally, completely removable labels that stick securely and remove cleanly! Maybe now I can eliminate my Goo-Gone.
WallMates by At-A-Glance:Self-Adhesive dry erase surfaces that turn office walls, or any other hard flat surface, into a customized dry erase wall planning center. Products include a writing surface, and three calendar types: weekly, monthly and yearly. No tools. No damage. Just peel, stick and you’re done!
File This by Fetch:Automatically and securely fetch your monthly statements and store them in a place of your choice; such as: your PC or on Evernote. Soon you will be able to save them to your account with Google, Dropbox or box. For example, you can fetch your bills, statements, insurance policies, tax returns, health records, and more. Free for 30 days, then I believe just $2/month – a small price to pay for not having to file these documents. I will definitely be signing up for this service! Did you know the 3rd week of April is “National Organize Your Files Week?” This is a great way to get started.
SmartTrakr by CubeSmart:This app lets you create an inventory of your property at work or at home, this way you don’t have to search through boxes or rooms for things. This app is also useful should you need to file an insurance claim – as you can also store pictures with the app. Even if you are not storing your items at a CubeSmart location; you can still use the app. I loaded it on my iPhone to use, even though there are no CubeSmart locations here – they tell me “yet.”
Grid-IT by Cocoon Innovations: The Grid-IT comes in a variety of sizes and colors; each made with a weave of rubberized elastic bands made to hold objects firmly in place. Each is designed to provide endless configuration of objects and digital devices. The one I picked up is designed as a 3-ring binder accessory, but I think I may use it as a stand-alone product for my upcoming trip for all of my electronic devices cords and cables.
Super Sticky Sticky Notes by 3M:These new sticky notes holds stronger and longer, yet still removes cleanly. You can remove the last two sheets and stick the entire pad into a binder, or use them individually. They come in four colors: pink, blue, green and yellow. I think these super sticky notes would also work well to label boxes with for use around the house, or for color-coding boxes when you move.
